Research Fellowship

The Wheaton Center for Early Christian Studies Research Fellowship is a full tuition scholarship awarded to graduate students in either the MA in Theology or the MA in History of Christianity who plan to pursue doctoral studies in Patristics or Early Christianity.

Partial tuition

  • Plans to pursue PhD focusing on Early Christianity.
  • Must complete an MA thesis on Early Christianity.
  • Responsibilities include 10 hrs./wk. assisting the WCECS with its research and functions

Fellowship Criteria

  • Student in either MA in Theology or MA in History of Christianity.
  • Plans to pursue PhD focusing on Early Christianity.
  • Must complete an MA thesis on a topic in Early Christian Studies as part of the degree requirements.
  • Responsibilities of this research fellowship involve 10 hours a week assisting the Wheaton Center for Early Christian Studies while engaging in sustained research related to the early Church.

Award Amount

Full tuition for the duration of the degree program.

Application Requirements

  • Admission to either the MA in Theology or History of Christianity with a concentration in Early Christianity.
  • 300-500 word essay describing educational goals and tentative topic for an M.A. Thesis.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Proficiency in either Greek or Latin.
  • Research Paper 10-15 pages.
