Microsoft Student Advantage


Through our Campus Agreement with Microsoft, we can offer the MSA program which allows all current Wheaton students to have free access to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, for as long as they are active students. Below are the details you will need. 

ID used to access

In order for you to access this service, you have been given an ID to use exclusively for the Microsoft Student Advantage program. This ID looks very similar to your student email address, however the “.my” has been removed. So the ID you will use to log into the “” is your student email address without the “.my”. For example if your student email address is, the MSA ID will be 

We have synchronized this new “” account with your network password. Your network password is the one you use to log into Blackboard or the portal. When you change your password through, this new “” password will automatically sync.

If you go to and put in your new Microsoft Student Advantage ID and use your network password, but cannot log in, the password synchronization did not work for your account. If this happens, you can go to and change your password, which will change your network, student email and this new MSA account.

What is available for Office 365 ProPlus?

  • For Windows, Office 365 consists of the full version of Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, OneNote, Outlook, Lync)

  • For Mac, Office 365 consists of the full version of Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync)

  • For Mobile, Office 365 consists of Office for iPhone and Android.



This benefit is only available to current students. Shortly after you graduate or leave the college, the access to Microsoft Office through this program will end. You will then be prompted to purchase Microsoft Office through a commercial or other consumer offer.


If you currently have Office 365 Home Premium, Office 365 University, or a trial version of Office 2013, and would like to install this full version, you will need to uninstall O365 Home or O365 University, or the Trial version of Office 2013 prior to installing Office 365 ProPlus.

How to download and install Office .

  1. Login to using your newly created “” MSA account, and your network password. The login page has a picture of a highway and Office 365 above the login boxes.

  2. Once you login, you should arrive at the Software page. If you do not, click the Gear in the upper right corner and go to O365 Settings and then click Software.

  3. On the Software page, ensure your computer meets the system requirements by clicking Review System Requirements link above the Install button.

  4. Assuming your computer meets the requirements, click the Install button.

  5. Once you have downloaded and installed Office, you will be prompted to enter your existing subscription, which just needs you to put in the Microsoft Student Advantage ID and Network PW.

  6. You will periodically be prompted to put in your Microsoft Student Advantage ID and PW.

You will be able to install the latest version of Office on up to 5 computers and 5 mobile devices.




How many machines or devices can I install office on?

You can run Office on up to 5 machines being Mac or PC. You can run Office Mobile for Android of Office Mobile for iPhone on up to 5 mobile devices.

Windows System requirements for Office 365 ProPlus

Operating System: Windows 7 or Windows 8 (32-bit Office can be installed on 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit Office can only be installed on 64-bit operating systems).

Computer and processor: 1 GHZ or faster x86 or 64-bit processor with SSE2 instruction set.

Memory: 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) recommended for graphics features, Outlook Instant Search, and certain advanced functionality.

Disk space: 3 gigabytes (GB)

Monitor resolution: 1024 x 768          


Mac System Requirements for Office 365 ProPlus

Operating System: Mac OS X version 10.5.8 or later.

Computer and processor: A Mac computer with an Intel processor.

Memory: 1 GB of RAM recommended.

Disk space: 2.5 GB of available hard disk space. Requires HFS+ hard disk format (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus).

Monitor: 1280 x 768 or higher resolution monitor     


Mobile requirements for iPhone

iPhone 4, 5, 5s

Ipod Touch 5th Generation

All Devices above must be running iOS 6.1 minimum. 

Office for iPad is not available at the moment, but when it becomes available, you will have access to it. to it.

I have Office 365 University or Office 365 Home Premium installed on my computer, what happens if I attempt to install Office 365 ProPlus for Students?


You may run into difficulties attempting to install or attempting to use Office 365 ProPlus for Students on the same machine as an existing Office 365 University or Office 365 Home Premium installation. If you want to use Office 365 ProPlus, you will need to uninstall Office 365 University or Office 365 Home Premium.

How can I find out how many machines or devices I have activated?

You can see how many computers you have activated by going to any of the computers that you have the software on. Open Word and click on the File tab. Choose Account. Not only will you see every computer that you have activated, you will also see how many downloads are still available.

Will Office Pro Plus work on Google Chrome Books?

No, laptops or desktops must use either Windows OS or Apple OS (Mac).
