.NET Framework and C++ Updates to Window 7 Computers

On November 9, we will update Microsoft .NET Framework and Visual C++ on all College-owned Windows 7 computers. This update will resolve an ongoing issue impacting Perceptive Content availability.

Perceptive Content Unavailable During Update

Effective Dates: November 5 and 6

Perceptive Content, the College’s document management system, will be updated on November 5 and 6. During this time, Perceptive Content and WebNow will be unavailable.

Key Benefits

  • This upgrade resolves several user-interface issues.
  • The new version is compatible with the Windows 10 operating system.

Impact on College Community

  • Perceptive Content will be unavailable November 5 and 6.
  • College-owned computers connected to the campus network will automatically receive the update, even if they are powered off. Computers that are not on campus will receive the update the next time they connect to the campus network, including through VPN.
  • You do not need to take any action, and you should not notice any changes after the update.

Perceptive Content Unavailable During Update

Effective Dates: December 24 through December 31 2015

Perceptive Content, the College's document management system, will be unavailable during an update from December 24 to 31. During this time, the system will be updated in order to repair ongoing issues.

Key Benefits and Features

  • Users that require high resolution or color scanning will be able to scan documents.
  • Batch scanning will no longer require a double-sided separator sheet or two separator sheets.

Impact on College Community

  • Perceptive Content will be unavailable from December 24 to 31. You will not be able to log in during this time.
  • College-owned computers connected to the campus network will automatically receive the update, even if they are powered off. Computers that are not on campus will receive the update the next time they connect to the campus network, including through VPN.
  • In most cases, you will not notice any changes after the update. However, batch scanning and high resolution or color scanning will work properly.

Perceptive Content, the College's document management system, will be unavailable during an update from 6-7 PM on Monday, November 16. Users will be able to log in as usual after the update.

Rationale

  • This is part of an ongoing effort to retire redundant systems

  • Consolidating authentication systems will allow password changes to work more reliably

Impact on College Community

Perceptive Content will be unavailable from 6-7 PM on Monday, November 16. During this time, we will change the authentication method for Perceptive Content users as part of an ongoing effort to retire redundant systems. This change is expected to have no impact on end users.

Document Management System Upgrade

The document management system upgrade from ImageNow to Perceptive Content 7.1 is complete. Perceptive Content 7.1 will be automatically installed in the next 24 hours on college-owned PCs connected to the campus network. If you use the college document management system as part of your work, please read this page carefully.

  • Allows you to eliminate paper files for permanent records
  • Provides a secure electronic mechanism for routing paperwork
  • No danger of physical damage or loss
  • Conserves physical space and reduces time spent searching records
  • Perceptive Content 7.1 is fully supported by our vendor
  • New features added for department administrators

Impact on College Community

While the name and appearance of the software will change, profiles, personal settings, and most program functions will remain the same. 

  • The program name has changed from ImageNow to Perceptive Content 7.1.
  • If you use the web client, the URL has changed from webnow.wheaton.edu/webnow/ to webnowp.wheaton.edu/webnow/
  • The first time you log in to Perceptive Content 7.1, you'll need to follow the instructions below.
    1. Open Perceptive Content 7.1
    2. Select Edit connection profile
    3. Select the default profile and then Modify
    4. Change the Server ID to INOWP
    5. Select OK
    6. Sign in with your network username and password.
