Ryan joined the HNGR Program in the summer of 2008. A graduate of Wheaton College and alumnus of the HNGR Program, Ryan serves HNGR through the facilitation of internship placements, student mentoring, and networking with global partner (or "host") organizations. Prior to the HNGR Program, Ryan worked in local community development and housing advocacy in Washington, DC. He and his wife, Kendra, are thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside students with whom they share a similar journey. Ryan's vision is to cultivate whole persons who connect their experiences of life with the poor to their faith, vocational choices, and long-term goals. He desires to see HNGR students develop relationships with those who are different from them -- culturally, racially, economically -- in ways that build true and healthy interdependence.

Sydney joined the HNGR program in the spring of 2000. She has a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College and uses her skills to help with the student assessment and development process in the HNGR program. Before coming to Wheaton College, Sydney worked in both a clinical and business setting in the Chicago area. She is married to Barrett McRay. Sydney and Barrett have three children: Mitchel, Matthew and Skyler. They enjoy trips to HoneyRock (a wilderness extension campus of Wheaton College) and bike riding throughout the nearby forest preserves and Fox Valley trails. Sydney's vision for her role in the HNGR program is to help better equip students for their cross-cultural encounters, provide coaching during their internships, and help students fully integrate their experiences as they re-enter Wheaton for their final semester.

Chris has been part of the HNGR staff since the summer of 2012. Before he joined us, Chris lived and worked in Haiti with a Christian university. He is responsible for keeping up communications between the HNGR office, interns, and alumni of the program and managing the website. He also plans HNGR events, including the annual HNGR symposium. A HNGR alumnus himself, Chris enjoys keeping up with international issues and development projects that are going on around the world, but he is most excited to walk alongside and encourage our students on their journeys. Chris's vision for his role is to help the HNGR community and those around the world hear each other's stories, and therefore better learn from one another.
