About Timothy Yontz
Timothy Yontz has conducted The Wheaton College Symphonic Band since 2007, and is Professor of Music Education for the Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College in Illinois, teaching courses in music education and conducting. Under his direction, The Wheaton College Symphonic Band has performed at the 2014 North Central Division Conference of the College Band Directors National Association and the 2013 Illinois Music Education Conference.
Before joining the faculty at Wheaton College, Dr. Yontz served as Associate Director of Bands at the University of Nebraska at Omaha for six years, and Director of Bands and Coordinator of Fine Arts in Wisconsin and Indiana public schools for seventeen years. While at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, he was Music Director of the Nebraska Wind Symphony, Omaha’s Community Concert Band.
Dr. Yontz holds a Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska, Master of Music from Butler University, and Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University. He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, Illinois Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster Fraternity, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and is a recipient of the National Band Association's "Citation of Excellence."
