About Colin Wooten

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Colin Wooten grew up in an Army officer’s family living in Germany and multiple locations in the United States and entered the Wheaton College ROTC program as a freshman in 1991.  Commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Armor upon graduation in 1995, he married his best friend Amy Corwin two weeks later. 

LTC Wooten’s initial assignment was with 1st Battalion, 64th Armor, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA.  While there he served as a Tank Platoon Leader, Tank Company Executive Officer (XO), and Headquarters & Headquarters Company XO. 

His next assignment was with 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, CO where he commanded a Tank Company and a Headquarters & Headquarters Troop.  LTC Wooten deployed to the Al Anbar Province, Iraq in 2003 as the Assistant S3, Regimental Support Squadron.

LTC Wooten then served as a Tactical Officer at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, performing duties similar to his current role at Wheaton College.  He joins the Rolling Thunder Battalion from Fort Hood, TX after serving in the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division for 4 years.  During that time, he served in 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry as the Squadron Operations Officer (S3) and Squadron XO including a deployment to the Maysan Province, Iraq.  He also served as the Brigade XO and then Brigade Rear Detachment Commander during its deployment to the Ninewa Province, Iraq.

LTC Wooten is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Armor Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Cavalry Leader’s Course, M1A2 Tank Commander’s Certification Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, Airborne School, and the U.S. Air Force’s Air Load Planner Course.

He resides in Wheaton, IL with his wife Amy and three children—Caroline Nicole, Eric Liddell, and Ian Edward.    They are active participants in the Officer’s Christian Fellowship (OCF) and enjoy hiking, canoeing, reading, the Denver Broncos, and all kinds of sports.
