About Betsy Leong
Betsy comes back to Wheaton to serve as the Secondary Science Education Coordinator. While at Wheaton, Betsy participated in the Black Hills Science Station, held every job possible in the Biology department, and participated in faculty led research focused on Multiple Sclerosis. With 6 years of experience teaching ninth grade Biology and Physical Science students in Sun Prairie and Beloit Wisconsin, Betsy completed her masters at the UW—Madison, conducting research in Positive Behavior Supports for secondary students.
Her love of science and education led her back to Wheaton where she hopes to instill a curiosity and love of God’s creation, building educators who are excited to teach science to kids in both middle and high school. Betsy loves science education so much that she doesn’t understand why every science major doesn’t want to become a teacher—it is that awesome a job.
When not at Wheaton, Betsy lives in Oak Park with her husband Nathan, an attorney for Microsoft Corporation. Together, with their corgi Leo, they worship at their local church and enjoy all the wonderful experiences that Chicago has to offer.
