About Kyle Hubbard

I specialize in Philosophy of Religion, Augustine, and 20th Century Continental Philosophy. I also work in Ethics, Ancient and Medieval Philosophy. I was first exposed to philosophy as a senior in high school when I took a class on Great Books. The class led me to enter Wheaton (and graduate) as a Philosophy and English major. Studying philosophy at Wheaton, I was challenged to not only consider how my faith affects my intellectual vocation, but also to integrate philosophical insights into my Christian faith. I entered the Ph.D. program at Fordham in 2001 and subsequently wrote a dissertation on Augustine’s and Jean-Luc Marion’s accounts of our love for God. Writing the dissertation has helped me better understand and experience God’s love and how I can communicate that love to others.

Besides reading and teaching, I spend a lot of time with my wife Beth and our two young children, Owen and Emily. Recently, I’ve been honing my wiffle ball pitching skills as Owen is obsessed with baseball. I also enjoy teaching three-year-old Sunday school.
