About Gregory Caruso
Greg Caruso was born August 25, 1984 and raised in Elmhurst, IL. He graduated from Glenbard North High School 2002, going on to enlist in the United States Army. Greg Caruso was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany with 1-18th Infantry Battalion 2002-2005. While enlisted, Greg Caruso was deployed to Bosnia for a QRF mission in 2003. Sent to Kuwait for a month, and was sent to Tirkit, Iraq for OIF II 2004-2005. He spent a full year in Tirkit, Iraq conducting combat patrols and raids. Greg Caruso got out of the Active Duty Army in August 2005 and joined the Illinois National Guard in December 2005. He was assigned to 1-178th Infantry Battalion. From there Greg Caruso was promoted to Sergeant and sent to Warrior Leadership Course. In 2006 Greg went to Illinois State University to major in Criminal Justice. In 2008, Greg Caruso joined ROTC to become an officer in the Illinois National Guard. In 2010, he graduated with a BS in criminal justice and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for the Infantry Basic Officer Branch. After completing the school Greg Caruso was sent back to Illinois and was a Platoon Leader for C co. 1-178th Infantry. While a Platoon Leader, he was sent to the Army Basic Instructor Course and recently was called up to work with the Department of State at the UN Summit in Chicago. Currently Greg Caruso is the Executive Officer of D co. 1-178th Infantry. He has served as full-time cadre with the Rolling Thunder Battalion as a contracted instructor since 2012 and is presently the enrollment officer and military science instructor.
