Elmhurst College President Dr. Alan Ray is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and holds a J.D. from the University of California and a Ph.D. in religion from Harvard. He has written and taught on religion, philosophy, and Native American legal issues.
During the Monday evening lecture Dr. Ray will offer an exploration of the Doctrine of Discovery and its role in the conquest of the indigenous inhabitants of the Americas, examining its enduring social and legal effects.
