Health Career Connection >>
This PAID 10-week program (June through August) provides a summer internship to undergraduate students interested in careers in public health and healthcare. These internships are at various locations throughout the US. Students will work on meaningful projects and develop professional skills that will strengthen their preparation and qualifications for health careers that are aligned with their interests. The application process is now open!

Cadence Health (Central DuPage Hospital) Summer 2015 Internship Program >>
This 8-week program offers a unique opportunity to shadow and observe a variety of specialty departments within Central DuPage Hospital. Each weekly rotation gives a behind-the-scenes view of patient care. Application link.

Emory University MD Summer Experience >>
This 5-week experience is much more than a shadowing program. MD-SEE offers genuine clinical experience, classroom guidance on presentations, and a vigorous look at current issues and practices in medicine. Virginia Commonwealth University Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) >>
An intensive, 6-week inter-professional academic enrichment program designed to enhance the academic preparation of junior and senior undergraduate students, and post-baccalaureate students, actively pursuing enrollment in a health professions school.

Summer Internships in Biomedical Research for underrepresented minority and disadvantaged students >>
Students can study diabetes, nutrition, obesity, digestive and kidney diseases, hematological, urologic, endocrine or metabolic diseases.

Johns Hopkins Summer Institute in Anatomy >>
A 4-week course designed to give undergraduate students an introduction to all aspects of human anatomy.

Ecela Spanish & Medicine Summer Programs in Peru >>
This 6-week session for pre-health students includes the equivalent of two college Spanish courses plus significant exposure to Latin American healthcare. It is especially relevant to anyone considering a career with Spanish-speaking groups. Summer 2015 Program Start Dates: May 25 or July 6.

Somos Hermanos Spanish Immersion Program for Future Health Care Professionals >>
Two types of programs that combine intensive one-on-one Spanish language instruction, family homestays, cultural activities, field trips, expert lectures, and socially relevant volunteering to provide students with the language skills and cultural competency required to provide quality health care to Latino patients.

Philadelphia Summer Medical Institute >>
A 3-week urban immersion program (June 27-July 18, 2015) in which Christian health professions students learn to address health needs of the largely low-income, urban community in Hispanic North Philadelphia and integrate their faith and the medical practice.

A research program spread over the course of two summers designed to help pre-medical students from Ohio explore the field of medicine. This program can also lead to early acceptance at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Gateways to the Laboratory Summer Program at Weill Cornell/Rockefeller/Sloan-Kettering >>
A 10-week research program for underrepresented and disadvantaged college freshmen and sophomores who wish to pursue an MD/PhD degree and a career as a physician-scientist.

A 10-week research opportunity for undergraduate students interested in computational modeling and simulation of infectious diseases.

University of Missouri Summer Research Internship in Medical Sciences >>
A 9-week summer research program in which underrepresented minority students will work on their own research project under the guidance of an MU School of Medicine faculty mentor and present their results at a poster Forum at the end of the summer. In addition to their research work, students participate in a full series of evening workshops and brown bag lunches designed to provide them with information about research, career preparation and options, and scientific ethics.

Michigan State University Summer Undergraduate Physician-Scientist-Training Education & Research >>
A 10-week summer program offered to students who are planning to pursue careers in the biomedical sciences. Students interested in combined DO-PhD training for a career as a physician-scientist are offered an opportunity to conduct research and to be exposed to the excitement of an academic medical environment. The program runs June 2, 2014-August 8, 2014.

Samuel Merritt Podiatry Workshop >> is a three day podiatry workshop that provides participants with an opportunity to explore the profession of podiatric medicine and surgery.

Des Moines University Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars (Health PASS) Program >>  is a three-week program that provide participants with well-rounded perspectives on what it’s like to be a medical school student in osteopathic medicine, podiatric medicine and surgery, physical therapy and physician assistant studies.

Human Anatomy (ANAT 410) is an immersive cadaver-based overview of the anatomies. The course is being offered during the summer session.

University of South Carolina Application Preparation Extreme (APEX) Program >>
An intensive 5-day program designed to assist upperclass pre-med students prepare for their med school application. The program includes a human cadaver dissection, shadowing in the hospitals, personal statement workshop, interview skills practice and two simulated med school interviews for each participant. A week-long program in which pre-vet students participate in rotations with our fourth-year vet students and experience veterinary medicine throughout our small animal hospital and a day at a large animal facility.

University of Houston College of Optometry Texas Optometry Career Opportunities Program (TEXOCOP) >>
A 6-week summer program in which promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds are introduced to courses in Ocular Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Physiology and Molecular Biology, Optics, Vision Science, Ophthalmic Optics and Grand Rounds in addition to oral and written communication skills. The program is designed to enrich students experience with practical and clinical opportunities.

University of Pittsburgh Summer Premedical Academic Enrichment Program (SPAEP) >>
A 7-week summer program is open to college sophomores, juniors and beginning seniors. The program is designed specifically to prepare and support students who wish to pursue careers in the field of medicine.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Summer Clinical Internship Program >>
A 2-week summer program in which participants will have the opportunity to shadow clinical faculty members at the medical facilities in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Students will be paired with faculty in specialties representing students’ interests. Students are encouraged to keep the hours of the clinicians in order to get a real sense of the specialty, the issues in patient care and the practice of medicine.

This residential program places students (rising college seniors or recent college graduates) in a Christian health outreach in a low-income, immigrant community in Nashville from May 18-June 27, 2014. Illinois College of Optometry, Focus on Your Future >>
This 5-day experience (July 14-18, 2014) exposes undergraduate students to the profession of optometry. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and work with current optometry students, ICO Faculty & Staff, as well as practicing optometrists. Students will be housed at no charge. There is no cost to participate in this program. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses.
