STEP 1
Read and carefully consider the IDS Handbook.

STEP 2
After carefully reading the IDS Handbook, fill out the electronic version of the IDS Application Part I on the IDS Intranet site. (Please note: Once the “Part I” link opens, click on the WORD icon to fill out in MSWORD.) Once completed, print out a hard copy (bring to your interview) and email the document to: IDS@wheaton.edu.

STEP 3
Complete and submit the IDS Information Release form to the Registrar’s Office before your IDS interview.

STEP 4
Schedule Application Part II (the interview) with the IDS Director to discuss Part I (which you will bring). Then meet with at least one discipline advisor for guidance on course selections. Be sure to get each advisors’ signatures on the POS form.

STEP 5
Complete and send an electronic version of Application Part III (Reflective Essays) along with your revised Program of Study (POS) to the IDS Office for final review. Complete the Course Completion Schedule online.

STEP 6
Upon acceptance, immediately complete and submit the Declaration of Major Form to your former advisor/department for transfer of information.

STEP 7
Enroll in Introduction to IDS (IDS 290) — it should be your first course as a major.

STEP 8
Complete an IDS Independent Study (IDS 495) — just prior to your Senior Seminar. Submit your Project Précis at the end of your Independent Study.

STEP 9
Review and complete all courses in your approved (signed) Program of Study (POS) and Course Completion List. DO NOT deviate from this list without approval.

STEP 10
Enroll in the Senior Seminar (IDS 494) the spring of your final year at Wheaton.  This course is a priority, so be sure to schedule it accordingly.
