About Allan Lyson
Allan Lyson is originally from Virginia, Minnesota. He has 2 children, Lauren, and Abigail. He has been lucky enough to be happily married to his beautiful wife Michelle for the last 13 years. SFC Lyson went to OSUT (One Stop Unit Training) from July-November 1996 and graduated as an E-3(PFC) as an Armor Crewman (MOS 19 K). Upon the completion of basic training, he was immediately assigned to the 3rd Squadron 8th Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood, Texas from 1996-2001 where he served as a Tank Loader, Driver, and Gunner during which he was deployed to Kuwait from April- August 2000. His next duty station was Fort Gordon Georgia where he attended training for Network Systems Operator. Following that assignment he was then reassigned to Fort Carson, Colorado where he was a Gunner and a Tank Commander during which he was deployed to Iraq from Mar 2003- Feb 2004 and Dec 2005-Nov 2006. After that he was sent to the Army Recruiting School and assigned to the Dallas Recruiting Battalion and served as a detailed recruiter in the Keller Recruiting Station from June 2007- June 2010 and earned the Glenn E. Morrell Medallion. Next he was assigned back to Fort Carson and become a Platoon Sergeant for the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment from 2010-2012. While there he served a combat tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan from May 2011-April 2012. SFC Lyson's current assignment is as an instructor and training NCO of the Rolling Thunder Battalion of Wheaton College ROTC Military Science department where he has served since September 2012.
