Physics

By its fundamental nature, physics is a vital part of every science student's education. The purpose of the major is to provide students with the concepts of classical and contemporary physics, and to develop both theoretical and experimental skills.

Student in physics lab

Our objective is to give students a fuller awareness of the structure and principles characteristic of the created universe. In addition, we introduce students to the technical aspects of physics and the technical culture in this highly specialized natural science.

Although there is a variety of course offerings, the basic curriculum provides preparation for a number of science-related careers in addition to teaching and research. The low faculty to student ratio, especially for upper level courses, leads to significant individual interaction in the classroom and laboratory.
