Residential M.A.

This program requires 40 credit hours of course work involving both the theory of the field and specific practical areas. These courses are completed at the Wheaton College Graduate School and allow the student to be immersed in the Wheaton community. By completing this program as a resident of Wheaton, there are numerous opportunities for involvement in the Wheaton community and access to electives taught in other departments that might not be available in intensive format.

This degree equips students for the extensive TESOL opportunities worldwide. Opportunities in the U.S. include teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in colleges and universities, language institutes, company-sponsored programs, and centers for immigrants and refugees. Opportunities abroad include teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in colleges and universities, elementary and secondary schools (K-12), language institutes and international schools.

The required courses meet the standards for professional preparation established by the international agency for English language teachers.
