The Wheaton College Graduate School offers several types of scholarships through the Billy Graham Center Scholarship Program.

About the Program

The Billy Graham Center Scholarship Program provides four different awards to specific types of Christian leaders to attend Wheaton College Graduate School for more advanced training, and one award exclusively reserved for Wheaton College graduates.

Before you can apply, you must first submit a Preliminary Eligibility Form >> to the Billy Graham Center Scholarship office. This form is a screening tool. If the office determines that you are eligible to apply, an application portfolio will be sent to you. Click here >> for instructions on completing this form. (PDF)  

Scholarship applications and Graduate School admission should proceed at the same time; materials are not interchangeable.

International Christian Leader Award

Awards are given on a loan/scholarship basis. For each year the recipient serves in their ministries outside of North America after the completion of MA studies, 25% of the loan is forgiven and becomes a scholarship. If the recipient does not return to his or her ministry outside North America, the amount of funding that was provided, as well as interest, must be repaid.

*Deadline for Submission: November 1 (of the year prior to admittance)

Eligibility

  •  Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university or equivalent (BA degree).
  • Completion of at least two years full-time Christian service in student's homeland context.
  • Affiliation with a Christian organization or national denomination which will endorse the student's study plan and support your return to ministry upon completion of M.A. studies.
  • Commitment to return to his or her Christian organization or national denomination upon completion of M.A. studies.
  • Healthcare workers: Internationals who are professionally active and meet the above requirements.

International Furloughing Missionary Award

Awards for international furloughing missionaries are usually full-tuition grants. Awards are given on a loan/scholarship basis. For each year the recipient serves in their ministries outside of North America after the completion of MA studies, 25% of the loan is forgiven and becomes a scholarship. If the recipient does not return to his or her ministry outside North America, the amount of funding that was provided, as well as interest, must be repaid.

*Deadline for Submission: November 1 (of the year prior to admittance)

Eligibility

  •  Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university or equivalent (BA degree).
  • Completion of at least two years of service as a career missionary outside North America.
  • Affiliation with a recognized mission organization.
  • Committed to returning to ministry at the completion of MA studies at Wheaton.
  • Citizenship in a non-North American country, serving in a country not their own.
  • Healthcare workers: Medical missionaries who are professionally active and meet the above requirements also may be eligible for this award.

Pre-Field Missionary Candidate Award

 The grants for this award are smaller than the other awards offered; however, such applicants may be eligible for other financial aid from the college. Awards for Pre-Field Missionary candidates are offered on a loan/scholarship basis, with 25% of the amount forgiven for each year served in overseas mission work following the completion of MA studies. If the recipient does not go into overseas ministry, loan repayment of both the principal and interest is required.

*Deadline for Submission (for spring term enrollment): September 15

Eligibility

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university or equivalent (BA degree).
  • Preparing for a career as a missionary outside of North America.
  • Must be a citizen of either the United States or Canada.

Urban Missionary Award

The urban ministry awards are full-tuition grants, covering the cost per hour during each term of course work. These awards are given on a loan/scholarship basis, with 25% of the amount forgiven for each year served in urban ministry following the completion of MA studies. If the recipient does not return to urban ministry, loan repayment of both the principal and interest is required.

*Deadline for Submission (for fall term enrollment): March 1
*Deadline for Submission (for spring term enrollment): September 15

Eligibility

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university or equivalent (BA degree).
  • Priority for those of ethnic minority backgrounds.
  • Completion of at least two years of full-time urban ministry within North America with a recognized mission organization or denomination.
  • Committed to returning to urban ministry in North America following MA studies at Wheaton.
  • Must be a citizen of either the United States or Canada

George & Helen Bennett Fund for Missionary Service

(Wheaton College graduates only) 

The George and Helen Bennett Fund for Missionary Service is a debt forgiveness opportunity for Wheaton alumni called to overseas missions.

Applicants must have:

  • An undergraduate degree from Wheaton College
  • Acceptance by a recognized overseas mission agency
  • Willingness to serve internationally a minimum of four years

Eligible loans:

  • Must be current
  • Must be documented by financial aid award notice
  • Will be forgiven 25% for each year of overseas service
