Wheaton College has a long and successful history of debate. The parliamentary debate program started in the Fall of 2003, and serves to promote the development of persuasive, articulate, and critically thinking Christians who can use their skills in many different walks of life after debate is over.
In the recent past, Wheaton has sent teams to the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence (NPTE), a very prestigious tournament to which teams have to qualify. Wheaton teams consistently earn both debate and speaking awards at local, regional and national tournaments, including the National Parliamentary Debate Association (NPDA) championship tournament. This year's team will compete from September to March.
