Position Description

Established at the outset of the Civil War, Wheaton College is a private, residential, and interdenominational Christian liberal arts college with nearly 3,000 students from 50 states, 42 countries and more than 55 church denominations.

Located in the diverse and dynamic western suburbs of Chicago, Wheaton College has enjoyed a history of generous giving, with participation from faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and friends. The current endowment is approximately $390 million; over $25 million in scholarships and grants is awarded to students annually.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a member of the Senior Administrative Cabinet, the Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations reports to the President and has oversight of Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, Development, Gift Planning, Institutional Partnerships, and Marketing Communications.

Qualifications and Attributes

The Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations will be a person of authentic Christian character with a demonstrated ability to lead a large, complex team. He or she must establish short and long term development and communications strategies and goals in alignment with institutional goals and then maximize engagement and financial support for the advancement of Wheaton College.

The successful candidate will build upon a culture of institutional involvement to integrate and energize a broad spectrum of Wheaton constituents for the advancement of the mission of the college among alumni, donors and friends. Accordingly, the Vice President must be a person who embraces diversity within the body of Christ and relates well to people across the full spectrum of Christian conviction.
