The desert floor along the road to Rogers Spring (Rt. 167), is covered
with calcified soil, known as caliche. This is similar to the rocky soil
in the Holy Lands that Jesus talked about in his parable on soil classification
in Luke 8:6. [No, really he was talking about hearts being open to the
gospel! Look it up for yourself.] |

Rogers Spring is a pool of water that collects groundwater circulated
to the surface along the Rogers Spring Fault. It provides a habitat
for rare pup-fish. But, don't dive in! The water also contains a deadly
protozoan that infects humans! |
